(meta) Forum question: Why does "Unread posts" only show me a few (c. 5) posts?

I think this has changed since the last time I was frequenting this forum/board.

When I click on "Unread Posts", it gives me a very short screen of things to read.  I have to click "All Unread" (something like that) on the "Unread" screen to see the rest.  Why?  Is there a workaround?

I don't use the "feature" but I guess that is the way the authors decided to do it. I don't know of an alternative approach.
